Stewart & Clare,

This event should be in the Calender, as it was included in the 2015 events listed in Grad Tidings.

Im looking forward to plenty of Graduates coming to play in tide and waves.

Sadly no visiting Grads turned up for this event which left it to the two home boats to show everyone what Grads can do.

I managed to score a 7th and 1st on day one. The 1st race was held in a moderate breeze with wind against tide which led to some exciting conditions. Downwind we just couldnt stay with the Lasers and upwind they handled the waves better than us. Unfortunately Mike & Rhian in 2882 didnt get on with the strong conditions in race 1 and headed for the shore.
As the tide turned and we started race 2 the apparent breeze dropped a little and the waves flattened out. Downwind in flat water we managed to just hang on to the lasers as the 200s managed to put some distance on us, but upwind we were able to reel them all back in finishing just behind the leading 3 RS200s and ahead of all the Lasers.
Days 2 dawned with blistering sunshine and a light breeze. The forecast of variable 3mph put Mike & Rhian off leaving us to hold the Graduate fort. With the start around 12:30 there was time for a sea breeze to build and we got a nice F2-3 so perfect Graduate conditions. In the first race getting the tactics to the first mark right was absolutely critical and thankfully we nailed it sailing the 1st lap alongside the leading RS200 and never let them get away giving us the race win. Race 2 had to be restarted due to the outgoing tide pushing much of the fleet over the line. On the restart we got caught below a group of prematurely starting Lasers allowing a Laser and an RS200 get away in clear air at the far end of the line. We stayed with the last of the RS200s and a Flying Fifteen for the remainder of the race and managed to bag 3rd.
Overall we managed 3rd on Saturday and 1st on Sunday.

Just a shame we couldnt have shared the event with fellow Grad sailors.

I here you are all scared of salt water and waves but our boats love it!
